Southside San Antonio’s healthcare transformation begins.
The groundbreaking ceremony for University Health Vida, a 60,000-square-foot health hub on the Southside of San Antonio, signals the start of a transformative project that will redefine healthcare in the community.
A Glimpse of the Future
Attendees gathered to witness the symbolic groundbreaking, signaling the start of construction for the three-story modern facility that will soon become the University Health Vida center. The groundbreaking laid the foundation for a new era of comprehensive healthcare services that will be readily available to the Southside residents. The facility will house a range of services, including primary care, specialty services, and mental health support, ensuring that Southside residents have access to the care they need close to home.
“When I assumed office in Precinct 1, my top priority was to advocate for healthcare resources in South San Antonio. Today marks a significant milestone with the inauguration of the University Health Vida facility—a unique center poised to catalyze improved health, spur economic development, and foster a resilient community.” -Bexar County Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores.
Additionally, University Health Vida will offer hands-on cooking classes and personalized nutrition counseling. The facility will also focus on preventive health by providing resources and information to empower the community with tools for proactive health management.
Upcoming Palo Alto Campus Groundbreaking
On January 18, University Health will hold another groundbreaking ceremony for the second facility, Palo Alto. This modern hospital is set to feature a 24/7 ER, labor and delivery unit, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, neonatal intensive care unit/nursery, and inpatient units for both adults and children.
