VIDA San Antonio is proud to announce that the community has received significant accolades from the Texas Association of Builders (TAB). On Friday, July 12, TAB recognized VIDA for its exceptional contributions to residential construction, awarding the prestigious STAR awards for Best Community Amenity for the Madla Greenway Trail and Best Overall Community Under 600 Acres in Texas.
About The Texas Association of Builders
As an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders, TAB comprises 26 local associations across the state. Since 1992, the Star Awards are the only statewide tribute recognizing excellence in all areas of the homebuilding industry.
“We are proud that TAB recognizes the innovative development at VIDA San Antonio, and we look forward to continuing to support this region alongside other catalysts like Texas A&M University–San Antonio and University Health.”
-Thad Rutherford, Southstar CEO
Future of VIDA
VIDA San Antonio is in its third year of development, and features a variety of housing options, including single-family homes, apartments, and townhomes. Once complete, VIDA will offer:
- 4,000 residential units
- Over 40 acres of parks and trails
- University Health Regional Hospital and the VIDA Health Clinic
- Expansive retail spaces, including a dynamic Town Center with restaurants, shops, and services
One Mile of Award-Winning Greenspace
One of the standout features of VIDA is the Madla Greenway Trail, a publicly-accessible greenway providing residents and visitors with a peaceful retreat into nature. The trail meanders beneath ancient oak trees and alongside a seasonal creek, offering a serene environment for relaxation and recreation. Educational signage along the trail, created in partnership with Mitchell Lake, the San Antonio River Authority, and San Antonio Water System, highlights the importance of natural greenways to the region’s watershed, climate, and community.
These TAB awards add to the growing list of recognitions for the VIDA project, including being named Best New Community in San Antonio by YourSA and Best Overall Development by the Greater San Antonio Builders Association in 2024.
