Tell us about yourself and your work.
I’m Albert Gonzales, a full-time artist, curator, events director, and entrepreneur. Painting is my main focus. I’ve always been creative, but it wasn’t until my 20s that I truly gained confidence in my craft. Investing in my art has been rewarding, helping me connect with the community.
TREBLA stands for Time Resolves Everything But Love Answers.

“I want the children on the Southside to know that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. I hope to inspire them by sharing that I come from where they are, and I was able to find my way. If I can do it, they can too.”
What drives your passion for art and community?
I want to bring positivity through art, encouraging people to follow their dreams. Despite facing challenges, I find peace in creating. Art is a lifelong journey—I’m always learning, developing new techniques, and expanding my artistic reach. My Wabi Sabi series marked a turning point in my career, reinforcing my commitment to growth and storytelling through art.

What makes the Southside unique?
The Southside is home. I grew up here, surrounded by family, and was raised on Zarzamora Street. It’s a vibrant, connected, and hospitable community—rich in culture, art, and food. The traditions here shaped my resilience, work ethic, and artistic journey.
Who are your biggest influences?
Vincent Valdez. He is also a Southside native, and has had a profound impact on me. Seeing his work solidified my belief that art can spark meaningful conversations and highlight both personal and societal experiences.
What does success mean to you, and what drives you to achieve it?
Success, to me, is personal—it’s about providing for my family, honing my craft, and making an impact through art. Dedication, longevity, and sacrifice are key. A decade ago, I never imagined being a full-time artist, but here I am. My biggest motivation is my wife and kids. I strive to be a role model for my son, showing him the power of taking risks and making a difference.

What is your creative process?
I describe it as pushing myself to uncertainty and follow-through with confidence. Allowing my creativity to flow and tap into my natural creative flow. I want the viewers to also feel a sense of inner reflection, curiosity, and a connection to my art on an emotional level.
What do flowers symbolize for you?
I see flowers as a reflection of ourselves. They’re organic, just like us. We all have our imperfections and insecurities, but we’re each beautiful and unique in our own special way.
