At the expansive VIDA campus, University Health is partnering with Texas A&M University-San Antonio and Texas A&M Health to provide educational opportunities and healthcare career paths. This partnership coincides with the construction of the new Public Health and Education building at Texas A&M-San Antonio, expected to open in fall 2026.
University Health Campus at VIDA
The 68-acre University Health campus at VIDA is now under construction, bringing new opportunities for accessible, high-quality healthcare to San Antonio’s Southside. The campus will include the University Health Vida clinic and Palo Alto Hospital, offering urgent, chronic, and preventative care. It will also be home to the Institute for Public Health, dedicated to supporting the health and wellness of residents across Bexar County.
University Health Vida
University Health Vida will bring comprehensive healthcare closer to home, giving families access to trusted primary and specialty care without long commutes. This three-story facility, located on Jaguar Parkway across from Texas A&M University–San Antonio, will also house the Institute for Public Health — a University Health initiative to advance health equity and community wellness in Bexar County
Key features include:
- Primary & preventative care to support long-term health and wellness
- Urgent care services for immediate, non-emergency needs
- Chronic care management to support patients with ongoing health conditions
- Specialty services that connect patients with expert providers
University Health Vida is scheduled to open in fall 2025.
University Health Palo Alto Hospital
The new Palo Alto Hospital will expand access to advanced medical care, ensuring Southside residents have a full-service hospital right in their community.

- 24/7 emergency department equipped for urgent and critical care
- Labor & delivery unit and neonatal intensive care unit/nursery
- Inpatient and outpatient services covering a wide range of treatments and procedures
- Radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy services on-site
- Specialized departments offering comprehensive, expert medical care
- Modern facilities & technology built to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region
- Hospital capacity of 166 beds at opening, designed to expand to 286 beds as the area continues to grow
The University Health Palo Alto Hospital is expected to open in 2027.
