In the first year since homebuilders began construction at VIDA San Antonio, so much has happened in the vibrant southside community. Here we wanted to review some of the exciting progress made in the last 12 months.
Second fastest growing community in South San Antonio
According to Zonda, VIDA is the second fastest growing community in South San Antonio as per new home starts. This represents less than a full selling year for the three new home builders at VIDA, and shows the strong response the community has received from families living, working or moving to the area.
Welcomed VIDA’s First Residents
The community’s first residents moved in this past March (2023), embracing the community’s unique charm and new amenities. Residents now gather monthly in Ana Park and for different community events.
Madla Greenway Trail
The first mile of the Madla Greenway trail was constructed and opened. This shaded greenway runs the length of VIDA, with trailheads within the community and along University Way. The Madla Greenway will be part of VIDAs extensive trail network connecting residents to the Texas A&M University-San Antonio campus, University Health campus and the many parks throughout the community. Watch for signs along the trail to learn more about the importance of seasonal creeks, sustainable planning of the greenway and more.
Ana Park
The first of many parks in VIDA, Ana Park, opened earlier this year. Residents are meeting here daily to connect at the playground, open play lawn or shaded table. Ana Park is another way for residents to meet and connect in the community. Consistent with VIDA’s effort to celebrate impactful regional artists through the names of streets and parks in the community, Ana Park is named for prolific multi-media artist Ana Fernandez.
Voted Best New Community
VIDA has garnered well-deserved recognition from the readers of MySA, earning the title of “Best New Community.“
First Apartments at VIDA
Construction began on the community’s first apartments, Los Arcos at VIDA. Mayor Niremberg and leaders across the city joined to celebrate the groundbreaking on the first of several apartments at VIDA, recognizing the community for providing diverse housing options that welcome everyone to join the VIDA community.
University Health Joins the Southside
VIDA was pleased to announce the sale of 68 acres to University Health, which will soon be home to a health campus including a hospital, medical offices and the HQ of the Bexar County Division of Public Health. This expansive campus will provide accurate and day-to-day care options for southside and the surrounding regions. Groundbreaking is planned for later this year.
VIDA’s first year under construction has been a busy and exciting one for the community, its residents and the region. With so much ahead for the 600-acre southside community, stay tuned for updates.
