VIDA Celebrates 2 Years
VIDA celebrated its two-year anniversary at Ana Park with over 100 residents in attendance, enjoying ice cream, a bouncy house, and games. This was one of the many gatherings where residents could connect and bond with their neighbors. VIDA proudly recognized several milestones and achievements:
- Nearly 300 homes completed and over 750 residents
- Named Best New Community by MySA.com readers for the second year in a row.
- Recognized as Best Overall Development by the Greater San Antonio Builders Association.
- Nominated for Best Community in Texas by the Texas Builders Association.
Families also had their first look at the new Little Free Library, a recent addition to the park where they can freely check out and donate books.
As VIDA continues to welcome new homeowners, builders have introduced homes across various price ranges and floor plans, providing an array of options for every family type.

University Health
University Health has begun construction on its hospital and the first two medical office buildings, including Palo Alto Hospital and the VIDA clinic. The Institute for Public Health is at the forefront of efforts to enhance the community’s health by eliminating health disparities and achieving health equity in Bexar County. It aims to promote health, prevent disease, and prolong life. The Institute aligns and coordinates University Health’s initiatives to address community needs and support patients in achieving optimal health.
San Antonio Housing Trust at VIDA
The San Antonio Housing Trust (SAHT) announced the initial approval of a groundbreaking 600-home multi-family development in the VIDA community. The project will provide much needed housing to one of the fastest growing sectors of the City, driven by the expansion of Texas A&M University-San Antonio, thousands of new jobs at the new University Health Hospital, and the upcoming JCB manufacturing facility. The three-phase development marks a significant milestone as it will be the first disability-forward housing project in San Antonio.
VIDA’s First Public Art Installed
VIDA’s first public art is now installed! Located in one of Phase 2s parks, the 12’ sculpture is the first of many that will be located throughout the community.
“It Takes All Kinds” is designed to evoke feelings of nostalgia and joy in children and adults. Standing 11 feet tall and 14 feet wide, the sculpture is made from rolled steel pipes sourced from a Houston shipyard and is painted in bright colors—orange, yellow, teal, purple, and green—to reflect the diversity of San Antonio’s neighborhoods.
Wanderlust Ironworks has crafted a piece that adds aesthetic value to the community and embodies the values of diversity and collaboration. The sculpture’s playful design and vibrant colors are intended to bring joy to all who see it, emphasizing the importance of unity within the community.
