2024 was a year of growth for VIDA San Antonio, welcoming hundreds of new residents and seeing progress on a number of transformative projects shaping the community.
Nearly 400 homes are now completed/occupied at VIDA, with residents drawn to VIDA’s quality homes and walkable, connected community — close to the energy of A&M-San Antonio and Palo Alto College in the heart of the Southside.

VIDA San Antonio’s 2024 Highlights
- University Health broke ground on the full-service Palo Alto Hospital and made progress on University Health Vida, its three-story health care center.
- Los Arcos at VIDA apartments began leasing and welcomed their first residents.
- The first public art was installed in a VIDA Phase 2 park. “It Takes All Kinds” by Wanderlust Ironworks is the first of many public art pieces to come to VIDA.
- Residents gathered to celebrate VIDA’s pool and clubhouse groundbreaking.
- VIDA was celebrated statewide, receiving awards from the Texas Association of Builders for Best New Community (600 acres and under) and Best Amenity (Madla Greenway).

2025 is shaping up to be another busy year for the VIDA community, with several developments on the horizon:
- University Health Vida is expected to open this year, providing primary and multi-specialty care and housing the new headquarters for the Institute for Public Health.
- Construction is underway on VIDA’s pool and clubhouse, offering recreation and community space with access via the Madla Greenway.
- Construction will be completed on the first townhomes at VIDA, bringing more low-maintenance living options to the Southside.
- VIDA will dedicate its Phase 2 parks, recognizing local and regional talent making a positive impact in the community.
- The second public sculpture will be installed, and plans continue for future public art pieces.
- VIDA’s set to welcome the first residents to the community’s east side — where the views of downtown can’t be beat.
- Planning for Madla Greenway’s second phase, east of University Way, will begin.
- Construction will begin on the northeastern section of VIDA, its largest area of homes.
- The first retail development at VIDA will be announced.
