While summer finds fewer students and activities on the Texas A&M University – San Antonio campus, the area is alive with activity this summer.
VIDA, the 600-acre master-planned community directly north of the A&M – San Antonio campus is well under construction, moving toward delivering long-awaited additions to the southside San Antonio area.
Developer SouthStar Communities has partnered with many of the area’s most celebrated names in planning and design to create the VIDA community. To sum up a few of the efforts underway:
Construction is underway on the northwest corner of VIDA. This area will include over 200 single family homes and 44 duplexes. The first of these homes is planned to be available early in 2022. Builders, floorplans and starting prices will be announced in the coming months. Site contractor VK Knowlton remains on time, despite the many weather impacts we’ve experienced since getting underway this Spring.
Is this a Ski hill on VIDA? This soil piled up on the VIDA site adjacent to University Way represents excess soil that will be used elsewhere in the community. SouthStar aims to reuse natural materials wherever possible within the community, including some beautiful rocks found during construction that will become natural seating in community parks and greenways.
Also underway – plans for multiple rental apartment buildings on VIDA, both across from campus and along S. Zarzamora. First apartments are anticipated to be completed in late 2022.
Stay tuned for more updated on VIDA!
